I’m Headed Back To The Future 9 comments

Lately I have been waxing nostalgic about my lost love affair with movies. Last week I vowed to make time for them in my life again. So far, I’ve only cleared one movie from my DVR list, but it’s a start. I have seen more movies in my lifetime than I can count and believe me I tried. Too overwhelming.

I know an excessive amount about films from the ’80s. They are the ones burned into my brain because that was during my pre-teen and teenage years. Very impressionable. IMDb.com has a list of the Best ’80s movies. I have seen 192 of the 252 listed. The ones I haven’t seen are mostly animation and sci-fi.

Here are clips from some of my favorite ’80s flicks:

He’ll always be Alex P. Keaton to me

Spike Lee’s cast was filled with talent

The prom scenes are classic #AndieandDuckieforever

Some little known facts…

  • Highland Park, Illinois is where most of the famous ’80s films were filmed…such as The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science and Ordinary People.
  • E.T.‘s face was modeled after poet Carl Sandburg and Albert Einstein.
  • When Turbo (played by black actor Michael “Boogaloo Shrimp” Chambers) falls down the stairs in Breakin’ and gets hurt, you can catch the stuntman replacement because he is white.

What are your favorite ’80s movies?

I can’t even get through School Daze anymore without laughing at the acting. But yeah I loved that one back in the day. I’ve been trying to get Christopher to watch some of my favs from the 80s. He wasn’t feeling ET, but he finally watched Goonies with me. We’ve also finished all the Rocky’s – which spans decades. Movies of the 80’s for me were more family movies I think. I went to see School Daze with a upcoming Freshman during a summer orientation for college.

A lot of the acting was over the top. LOL. But the singing was great. And many of those actors have gone on to be big time with better acting skills!

There's a Pinterest board for it?! OMG. I must go check it out. Can't Buy Me Love. Before he was McDreamy! That was a classic too. It's been remade so many times. I visited your blog this morning and looks like we have some things in common. I married my high school sweetheart too and we used to live in Michigan. Thanks SITSah!

Hi, there! Stopping by from SITS. I actually am rarely on Pinterest, but my fave board of mine is Totally Teen 80s movies. I love Adventures in Babysitting and Can't Buy Me Love. I'll have to check out IMDB's list. Thanks for the tip!

Giancarlo Esposito (Julian) is the one from School Daze that I have always been impressed by. Love Laurence Fishburne, but Esposito is so versatile. Especially playing Gus on Breaking Bad.

I ALMOST added a clip from Adventures In Babysitting! I have seen it soooo many times. I need to record it and watch with The Deuce. He would love that one.

Love that School Daze! I always am amazed to see all of them and how far they've come. You think people have instant fame and then you see a clip like this and realize they've been working at if for YEARS!

My actual favorite from the 80's is Adventures in Babysitting http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092513/, lol! Have you seen that one? I absolutely LOVE that movie!
