|“Nothing beats a failure but a try”|
I am about to delve into some negativity, so I am going to talk about something positive first. I have been doing the Blog Every Day In May Challenge with Story Of My Life for 24 days straight now. I am pleased with myself for keeping this commitment. I went a step further and have been doing a Mini Blog Challenge with Rx Fitness Lady this week which I’m 5 days into. Yesterday I signed up for a 4 week blogging e-course for June with Blogelina to take my blog to the next level. I’m excited about my growth. If you push yourself just a little bit, you will be amazed at how far you can go.
Recognizing your worst traits is the first step to changing them. Right? The next step is learning why you have them and IF and HOW you can fix them. These are mine…
1. Procrastinator. I’ve talked about my issue with putting things off ad nauseum. I’m working on it. I’ve been journaling about what I do each day to track where I’m going wrong.
2. Messy. Not on purpose though. I use too many dishes and utensils when I cook. I begin organizing projects with many pieces that cover lots of square footage. And although I will donate, trash, or shred paper in a heartbeat, I tend to hoard way too much of it before getting to that stage. This morning I forced myself to organize piles of crap in my home office and clean the guest bathroom before I sat down at the computer. I may be onto something there.
3. Forgetful. Out of sight, out of mind. I can retain dates for birthdays, special occasions, and the like. Not a problem. But if I file, store, or pack something away–it might as well be gone. I need visual triggers. Labels, pop-ups, alerts. Which is why I always have 5 or 6 tabs open on my internet browser. That’s an improvement from the two browsers I used to keep open with 5 or 6 tabs.
What’s ironic is how these 3 bad traits of mine are intertwined. I’m a procrastinator because I’m messy and forgetful. But there’s hope! If I wasn’t challenged, I’d be bored. Please continue to follow me on my journey to being happier, healthier, and wiser.
