If I remember correctly, The Deuce is almost 2 years old in the picture below. The sweet lady holding him is my late great-aunt Sut. Sut was her nickname (which actually was my grandmother’s nickname first). Sut is my great-aunt twice over because she and her sister (my grandmother) married two brothers. OK, I could go on and on about my ironic family history.
This picture was a nice surprise when another aunt sent it to me after Sut passed away. I wasn’t present when they snapped the pic. In fact, The Deuce spent more time with Sut in her last years than I did. My parents loved taking him to her house in Mississippi when he was visiting them. I have very fond memories of running around her farm as a little girl. She and my late great-uncle Fletcher had all kinds of animals and fresh vegetables. Boy, how I loved going to retrieve eggs from the chicken coop. Another world, another time.
