As a mom, I want to make sure that my son has all the tools that he needs to be successful in life. And I want to have fun while doing it. 101 Things You Should Do Before Your Kids Leave Home by David Bordon and Tom Winters gave me a kickstart in the right direction. Believe it or not, I have done quite a number of the things in this book already with The Deuce. For example, #3 Teach Your Kids to Write Thank You Notes (he got some practice at this in May for his 9th birthday) and #56 Ride a Roller Coaster Side by Side (we actually did this on a small scale several years ago). Now it’s time to get started on the other 99.
The best part about the tasks listed is the enjoyment parents will get out of them too. I am so excited to check some things off of this list. I can’t wait to do a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle with The Deuce. And give him a seminar on doing laundry. Now that one is going to give me tremendous joy! If you are searching for practical life lessons or just good ol’ fashioned quality time ideas to experience with your kids (before they leave the nest), check out this book at Hachette Book Group. You’ll find advice on fun, faith, and awesome challenges for the whole family.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
