We Virgos like to prep and plan. But even when you do all that, life happens. Today marks Moving Day 1 as I, Hubby, and The Deuce begin our new journey from Slidell to Lafayette, Louisiana. Hubby got a new job a few months ago which will catapult us into new adventures. God is good. I wasn’t
happy initially expecting this change, but it was right on time. As I do with almost everything in life, I compared it to one of my favorite 80s movies–Moving starring Richard Pryor and a then-unknown Stacey Dash.
The movers were due to arrive for Day 1 of packing between 8:00 am and 10:00 am. The Deuce always wakes up at 6:00 am to get ready for school. So I figured that I would get up at 4:45…5:00 am to get a jump start on things. Nah, my brain woke up at 3:45 am and refused to go back to sleep. Can you say, “anxious”?
Another group just arrived to dismount the living room television (The Deuce is going to flip when he gets home from school), pack the glass coffee tabletop, disconnect the icemaker for the fridge, and disconnect the washer and dryer. And crate Hubby’s beloved Big Green Egg. Thank God for relocation benefits. Otherwise, I would be doing Tequila shots right now. I probably will still partake later. To deal with saying goodbye to my beautiful home that still has not sold yet. After 3 months on the market. Ahhh Lawwwd. I just said that out loud. Getting the glass out now.
The good news is all of the guys are easy going and hospitable. A far cry from Arlo Pear’s crew in Moving. Please let Day 2 go well also.
How have you fared with moving crews?
Have you ever seen Moving?
