I watched The Avengers on DVD for the second time tonight with my 5-year-old son, The Deuce. We saw it at the movies together a couple of months ago in 3D. First movie I ever took him to. Why did I wait so long? Because I was always afraid of how he would act in the theater. First time mommy? Here! Tonight in our own domain, he was able to give me a play-by-play because he knew the sequence of events. His favorite moment is when The Hulk smashes Loki from side to side several times after Loki acts superior. Mine too. And I rediscovered a few things while watching The Avengers a second time.
1. Robert Downey Jr. is still one of my favorite actors. First fell in love with him during Less Than Zero.
2. I don’t think Scarlett Johansson had to practice those fight scenes. I think she really knows how to make those moves.
3. Samuel L. Jackson has been in 5200 movies.
4. The premise of an over-the-top larger-than-life Hulk in this particular movie works.
5. Thor is hot!
