Humpfree: The Humpless Camel by Julia Dweck is a delightful children’s book about being unique and special. A camel with no humps goes on a journey to find two good substitutes. The story flows with delightful rhymes as you cheer for Humpfree to achieve success.
Dweck was inspired to write this book after reading a story on scientists who discovered a rare camel species in the mountains of East Africa. The book is beautifully illustrated by Young-Min Yoon. My 6-year-old son was delighted by the pictures. He actually used the word “beautiful” to describe them. Xist Publishing will be releasing the book on 10/5/13 on Amazon.
Julia writes children’s stories for digital and traditional publication. Her stories span the spectrum of humor, fantasy, and edutainment in rhyme and in prose. Julia’s background in elementary education affords her the opportunity to be in touch with what children want to read about and what makes them giggle. Julia collaborates with some of the leading artists in the world of children’s literature. Julia is also a designer of educational adjuncts for children’s literature, and has worked with such notable publishing houses as Penguin Young Readers.
