Have you seen the previews of OWN Network’s new docu-series, Love in the City?
Yes, I said docu-series. That is how Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) is touting it. This show looks like the real deal, y’all. Love in the City was originally called Crazy. Sexy. Life. Many of us are addicted to the wildness of the Real Housewives of Atlanta and other reality TV shows featuring women. But I think this one is going to be slightly different in how they tackle past feuds, getting older, and having strong personalities.
Love in the City premieres Saturday, April 12, 2014. It chronicles the lives of four friends who live in New York City. Hmmm. They have known each other for more than a decade. Two of the four women featured are multiple breast cancer survivors. The other two are facing relationship, career, and fertility issues.
Meet the Ladies
Actress Chenoa Maxwell is the one that I am most familiar with. She starred in the 2002 film, G, with Blair Underwood and Richard T. Jones. She had the cutest haircut and her skin was flawless. Currently Chenoa has been dealing with her next move careerwise, fertility treatments, and how it all is affecting her marriage.
Life Coach and Motivational Speaker Bershan Shaw has beaten breast cancer twice. The most recent occurrence being a stage four diagnosis. She confesses to her struggles with insecurity despite overcoming so much.
Celebrity hairstylist Kiyah Wright is the one who brings all the women together. She has recently moved to New York. Single and approaching 40, she desperately wants to have a child.
Philanthropist Tiffany Jones is another two-time breast cancer survivor. She has worked tirelessly raising money and awareness for early detection. The show takes you through Tiffany’s decision to have a double mastectomy.
I am looking forward to bringing these four ladies and their respective stories into my living room.
Love in the City airs on OWN Saturdays at 10p/9p CST.
