I was saddened to hear about the passing of the renowned poet Maya Angelou yesterday. It comes right on the heels of hearing about at least 7 people in their 40s who have succumbed to cancer and other illnesses in the last few weeks. A classmate, friends of friends, and a blogger. The bittersweet thing that all of the aforementioned had in common is goodness, positivity, grace, and many loved ones. It has made me really think about what I will leave behind and what I can do now to make sure it is a beautiful legacy.
Mother’s Day was awesome, but a whole month versus a whole day sure would be nice. You can read about that here.
The Deuce turned 7 on the 21st and he couldn’t wait to tell me that morning. As though he had to inform me. LOL He wanted pancakes for dinner. So I spread frosting on them that was left over from the cupcakes I made for his class that day. I put a candle on top and he made a wish. My parents surprised him with an Android Tablet. Thank God for grandparents!
School ended last Friday with a half day. And boy, it’s going to be a looooooooong Summer! But I am happy to announce that The Deuce finished First Grade with a year of perfect attendance. And he finally learned how to ride a bike last week!
I launched my first PIG Social Media Linky Party. Thanks to all who participated. It’s going to become a bi-weekly feature here on Being A Wordsmith. So stop by again tomorrow Friday, May 30, 2014 to link up your Pinterest, Instagram, and Google+ URLs and every other Friday following.
I enjoyed sharing the following post this month:
What I am looking forward to in June
- Adding more chore sticks to The Deuce’s chore bucket to keep him busy this Summer
- New rigged recipes
- Trip to the beach
- Mobile mystery shopping (post on that coming soon)
- Working on my happier, healthier, and wiser legacy
