I apologize for the late start to today’s linkup for the challenge. Welcome back everyone and thanks for your patience.
Now, on to today’s writing theme prompt…
About a year ago, I joined the Slidell Women’s Civic Club. We meet the first Thursday of the month and discuss the numerous community service projects that we participate in here in Slidell. The one that is most near and dear to my heart is our Christmas Project. We choose local schools and nursing homes that we will visit in December. The powers that be at the schools and nursing homes identify students and seniors that need some extra help during that special time of year.

A portion of the club’s funds are given to each member, which we match, and then go out and shop for the person we chose. Last year, I chose to buy for a boy the same age as The Deuce, so I would know what to buy. I was given a list with the boy’s name on it, his likes/dislikes, and a little info about him. At the next meeting, everyone brought their goodies. It was amazing! There were bicycles and various toys everywhere. It looked like Santa’s workshop. LOL What was even more touching is when I helped deliver the presents to the school. The students don’t see us do it because the parents come and pick up the items later. But I felt such joy knowing that we were giving so many families a helping hand.
