    1. It took me back too seeing those fashion plates on fb and then drafting the post. Thanks Tiffany!

  1. Oh Kimberly, these are awesome! I remember hours with the fashion plates, myself! LOL! And the twist necklaces! I also had tons of fun with my Easy Bake Oven, hours and hours spent baking little treats…I suppose that started my addiction to sweets! LOL! Have a great weekend and thanks so much for linking up with Meandering Mondays!

    1. I never had an Easy Bake Oven. My love for cooking was delayed many, many years. Thanks Stacey!

  2. I had the fashion plates!!! I loved them but I would never have remembered those if I hadn’t just seen your post! I was just talking to my friend about how I am getting back all kinds of memories from my childhood toys as I buy my children their new toys. It’s a fun way to recapture memories that would have otherwise been lost. Fun post!

    1. I had the same reaction when I saw them on Facebook! Another blogger mentioned Pepsi having a line of shirts too–I had completely forgotten. Thanks Julie!

  3. This def brought up some memories. I remember that my mom had a coworker that had a daughter that was older than me. When we would go to her house we would play with her fashion plates. That was such a clever idea for a toy! I think one of my siblings had a coco cola shirt. Why were those ever cool, lol?!

  4. OMG! I had Fashion Plates!!! It was probably the only girly toy that I had that I actually enjoyed playing with. Wow, you really took me back with that one!

Thanks so much for sharing on Turn It Up Tuesday! We always love having you! 🙂

  5. Awww I loved my fashion plates. I wish I had never gotten rid of it. I wasn’t big into dolls but I loved that and anything paper dollish where you could change the clothes. I also like doing hair so my next fav was the barbie head thing. I never bother with the makeup but I loved doing her hair. And I had Pepsi clothes. They were hot pink, apple green and gold – ALL in the same outfit. 😉

    1. I completely forgot about Pepsi’s line of clothing. If you are talking about the doll heads with the tray, I had that too! I had a black one and a white one. I cut the hair on one of them and was upset with myself. It’s not like it was going to grow back! Sigh.

  6. I didn’t have any of these things but I love the reminiscing. I can hear the excitement in your words over these.

You should have shared a picture from the Madi Gras!

    1. I’m saving the ball pic for another post. But I will put it up. I know I have 10 years on you, youngster!

  7. FASHION PLATES!!!! SQUEEEEEEE! I really did just squee so loudly it scared my dog. I just had such a blast from the past. Oh, my. I remember ALL of those things, but the Fashion Plates. Oh, I used to LIVE for those!! –Lisa

    1. You’re so funny, Lisa! The fashion plates set is getting the most response from readers for this list. Classic. Thanks!

  8. I am from Finland. So we didn’t have exactly the same things but very similar. Fashion and fads are international after all. Nice to bring back memories.
Visiting here from the This Momma’s Meandering Mondays and enjoying your blog!

  9. I didn’t own any of these items. My generation of folks couldn’t get through life without a clear phone that showed the inner workings of the telephone and LA Gear clothing. Must haves…lol.

  10. Ugghh Kimberly!! My timing this weekend was so off…I.missed.the.weekend.traffic.jam!! Haha yes, what fashionista didn’t have the fashion plates?! Too funny because I have that pic on my “Back in the Day” board on Pinterest, probably one of my favorite toys as a kid! And oh, the add-a-bead necklace. You couldn’t get the real thing until you got in junior high or high school though, lol! Thanks for sharing and sounds like you had a pretty awesome weekend!

  11. Yes – I remember all of those things!!! So funny!
And – awesome that y’all went to a Mardi Gras ball. When I was in grad school I was in southern Alabama and Mardi Gras is huge there – we went to New Orleans for one day but I can’t remember which parade it was.

    1. You would be amazed at how many places celebrate Mardi Gras outside of Louisiana. Because we are so close to New Orleans, Deuce gets out of school for an entire week each year. Most other schools in other parts of Louisiana only get Lundi Gras, Mardi Gras, and maybe Ash Wednesday off. Thanks Kim!

    1. Thanks Laurie. I just left a comment on your Red Gold Lasagna post and shared it on Twitter. Looking forward to growing our connection.

  12. YES to ALL OF THESE!! I loved that fashion plate thing, along with my spirograph. And I feel fairly certain there’s a photo of me wearing that Coca Cola shirt in junior high school on Facebook. BTW, I’m from Louisiana, too! Stopping by from your SITS tribe, and looking forward to reading more.
